As real estate agents we are unable to "steer" you away from specific neighborhoods based on our subjective feelings about crime in that area. It is a practice called "redlining" and is against the law as well as the National Association of Realtor ethics.
What we can do however is to provide you with resources to do your own research.
One web site I really like for crime statistics is
http://web1.seattle.gov/seastats/doStatistics.aspx

It is maintained by the mayor’s office and offers a really user friendly interface. You can search by neighborhood, or by crime type and you can pull up graphs that show monthly or annual stats.
A quick perusal of the data suggests that the highest crime areas are downtown, along I-5 and Aurora, and around the University. Crime types vary in these areas and may or may not be of any concern to you. But if you are looking to find out what is going on in a specific area check out the site.
